It’s made for everyone - because razors don’t need to be for ♂ or ♀. They just need to do the good shaving thing.
This work is the product of a paid creative test - which I think is the best kind. Paid creative tests provide three things:
1. Demonstration of ability (obviously)
2. Proof of value (both the creatives' time and the agency’s.)
3. Demonstration of process & thinking. (a taste of what it’d be like to partner with the creative)
Even as a creative director, you still gotta get your hands dirty and break out the Photoshop. Sometimes, you just gotta make a banner ad. #advertising
This was a fun project. Create social covers, social profile icons, and storyboard a banner ad — got to twerk the ol’ animation skills, and it resulted in me making a bonus fun piece of social content. (And apply digital usability and best practices, of course.) This also helped to offer a baseline for future asset needs to fuel the brand’s potential future creative and evolution.
Because this is a new brand, advertising SOLELY on digital, with the super cool vague name “Made For You,” the product (razor) needed to be clearly visible in all creative in addition to being shown with a 50/50 split of men and women, to emphasize that the product is unisex. (sidenote: I think that’s awesome. About time!)
The previous creative, while fun, wasn’t clearly showing the product. This lead to vagueness - the creative could be selling anything from underwear to shoes, to clothing, to skin care. The lifestyle influencer photography was also equally extremely open. Which lead to a conversation about future shoots - and how to maximize a photoshoot/shot list where assets could be useful in a number of ways - from social, to digital, to :30s and bumpers.
In the end, I created a few variations of all the things, and a few animations (I was feeling spunky), and here they are. Enjoy, if you like that sorta thing.
